THE CHINESE MARKET
China incorporates a total population of almost 1.3 billion individuals. Eleven cities have over 2 million inhabitants, such as Shanghai with 17 million, Beijing 14 million, Tianjin 10 million or Nanjing with 7 million! There are a further 23 cities with a population of between 1 and 2 million inhabitants.
Through the rapid economical development in China, as well as its political opening, almost 80 million people in China are now in the position to be able to travel abroad - people who only recently have discovered the concept of vacations. In addition there are more than 1 million Dollar-Millionaires in China by now.
Thanks to the stable political and economic development, China has become the fastest growing consumer market for luxury products and travel tours in the world. But doing business in China for most Western companies provides many challenges and obstacles.
